Upon arrival, climb 750 steps and reach 2,285-meters to see where the prophet Moses received the 10 commandments. The walk up can take approximately 2-3 hours depending on the participant. Arrive at the summit and marvel at the stunning views as the sun's light scatters across the mountains. After spending time at the summit, prepare for your approximately 2-hour descent down the mountain. Take a break from hiking and visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of St. Catherine’s Monastery. Browse through the old manuscripts displayed in the library and see icons excavated from the Vatican. Learn about the monastery's extensive history reaching back to the 6th-century and its relationship to the burning tree from Moses's story. See the tree itself in the Church of the Transfiguration.
